Digital transformation is reshaping the oil & gas sector — and FARAMED AS is at the forefront, helping industrial leaders like SAIPEM accelerate commissioning while improving reliability and control.
In large-scale industrial projects, commissioning is a critical phase — yet it’s often delayed by infrastructure bottlenecks, coordination issues, or lengthy cable installations. FARAMED AS offers a disruptive alternative, combining cutting-edge Industrial IoT (IIoT) technology with expert field teams to drastically speed up commissioning timelines.
The Problem: Cabling Complexities and Costly Delays
Commissioning typically requires thousands of loop checks, integrating remote I/O cabinets with central control systems. Traditionally, this means pulling kilometers of temporary fiber optic or copper cabling — a process that can take weeks or even months on an FPSO or refinery.
Moreover, once operations start, any connectivity issues or misconfigurations can lead to dangerous downtime, costly rework, or delayed start-up.
The Solution: IoT-Powered Wireless Commissioning
FARAMED’s approach eliminates the need for extensive temporary cabling. Instead, we deploy a temporary hybrid wireless network built around Point-to-Point (PtP) and Mesh antenna architectures, integrated into a Mobile Control Room (MCR) — a containerized solution pre-equipped with UPS, servers, monitoring systems, and network controllers.
Each remote I/O cabinet connects to the control room via a secure industrial WiFi network. Our system is built on proven technologies (e.g., Ubiquiti UISP), ensuring fast deployment, signal integrity, and easy troubleshooting.
Real-Time Data, Faster Feedback Loops
With remote I/O loops visible in real-time, FARAMED’s solution empowers teams to:
- Run loop tests in parallel across multiple modules
- Detect and resolve errors instantly
- Access live diagnostics from anywhere on the network
